Welcome To Panglao and Balicasag Island
This is actually my first time to visit Bohol and witnessed the beauty of Panglao and Balicasag island. It was second week of November when we had our yearly company team building. Like what I had experience on Boracay way back 2014, the flight (back and forth), foods and accommodation were catered by the company. Basically, the only expenses that I had was the water activities that I tried. Plus, some souvenirs and ‘pasalubong’ that I bought. Isn’t it amazing? Well, that’s one of the perks working on a great company.
Where To Stay?
It was nice that we were able to stay on a 5 star hotel in Panglao, Bohol. The name of the hotel we stayed in is Hennan Resort. Actually, that is the newest branch of Hennan Resort aside from their branch in Boracay. The Boracay branch is where we stayed in during our company team building last 2014. When we went there, it was obvious that the place is newly constructed. In fact, some areas of the resort are still on going construction. To know more about the room rates. This is the main and front view of the hotel. As you notice, there is a huge bridge going to the entire hotel and underneath is an entire swimming pool. What a great view.
Here I am, floating and enjoying the water.
One of the good thing about the hotel location is it is only few meters away from the beach. In fact, even you are swimming on the hotel’s swimming pool, you will see the beautiful view of the entire beach front on the other side. For that reason, you will be able to enjoy swimming on the pool without tasting the saltiness of sea water and enjoying the view of the beach at the same time.
The Beach Outside
But if you are planning for a sun bathing and a much closer view of the beach, you can sit and relax on the beach chairs with large patio umbrellas covering it. Don’t worry because these are owned by Hennan Resort also. So once you sit and relax there, one of hotel staff will approach you to ask whether you need anything like towels or refreshing drink.
In front of the hotel, you will see a concrete #HENNAN signage compose of huge letters that is almost 5 feet in height. This signage is definitely perfect for taking selifes and instagramming.
One of the best thing in Hennan Resort is the bar at the center of the pool. In which you can order cocktail drinks and enjoy swimming at the same time. Don’t worry because it is not necessary to bring cash to pay what you ordered. There’s an option in which they will ask for your room number and charge it to your bill. And you just have to pay it upon check out.
What I usually do when I’m on a beach vacation, is to wake up early in the morning. Just to take a few walks at the sea shore. Probably, 5:00 in the morning. For the reason that I love to explore walking on the beach area since it is low tide while a cool breeze is touching my face. And of course to see the beautiful sunrise.
From Panglao Island to Balicasag Island, we traveled through boat. The travelling time took almost more than 2 hrs.
For the reason that the beach has abundance of sea urchins on it, the boat driver gave us some aqua shoes to protect our feet from sea urchins if ever we unfortunately step on it. That idea freaked me out that’s why I carefully step on the beach and stay away from some corner of the stones since that is their habitat and besides I don’t want to ruin my vacation because of that sea urchins.
Compare on my experience on Puerto Galera, I can say that Puerto Galera is much better place for snorkeling because you will got a chance to see the entire beauty of underwater corals and sea creatures aside from fishes. While in Balicasag Island, the boat was just parked on an area in which fishes will be found. After that, you just have to hold a pinch of bread to offer that to those fishes for them to approach you while you are underwater. Unlike on my experience on Puerto Galera, the boat drove us on the place in which variety of sea corals will be found while in Balicasag Bohol, there is no sea corals only small fishes.
Here I am, snorkeling and posing on the camera with the fishes. Haha!
